Well, in the supposed leaked 10.5 screenshots a month or two ago, people noticed that iCal and Address Book appeared to be merged into a single application.
Those were admittedly fake by the artist. They were never meant to be mistaken as real to begin with. People took it too far. (go figure)
umm....that magazine add looks rather real to me. WTF?
Except it uses the font that Apple stopped using like 4 years ago.
Anyway...It will be GSM... No Verizon or Sprint at all... the rest of the world uses GSM, and eventually Sprint and Verizon will give in... as the phone market (mostly made overseas where the networks are GSM) eventually stop bothering with those stupid CDMA companies that are disabling their sync capability anyway. I tried to buy a Sony Ericsson from Sprint a few years ago when all the GSM networks had them... Sprint didn't have a single bluetooth phone then. I dropped them for Cingular and the Sony Ericsson T637 so I don't know if Sprint does now or not.
I got on the ship less likely to eventually sink.

So your attitude is "if I can't have it, I don't want anyone to have it."?
Whether it comes out or not, you won't be getting one. So why would it matter either way?
Maybe because, like me, it would be nice to actually have a product on its release date?

I've never heard of this company -- are they reputable, does anyone know? I've heard all sorts of stories abut these types of things being spyware or some such, don't want to pollute my Mac with any of that garbage!
You're joking right?!
They are the one of the biggest security product vendors!
I have installed this, no slow down and it doesn't get in the way.
I have it installed as I frequently share files with Windows users and don't want to be a carrier.

It should be free. It's craptastic; painfully slow and full of bugs.

As a photo geek I would have to disagree with you here. I don't believe myself that the lens quality for something so small would be good enough, and I especially don't believe that the sensors @ 5mp that small would be up to it. You'd have ridiculous amounts of noise in almost any photo, and optical aberrations would be easily picked up. Pixel density would be incredible. They have trouble getting good performance out of 6mp sensors that are several times as large as the one that would be here, and lenses on those same point and shoot digital cameras often will show massive amounts of chromatic aberrations particularly around strong light sources and highlight-shadow transitions even with lenses that are many many times larger.
You would also probably not have a real zoom.
This is all speculation on my part, but based on the price points of the best point and shoots, to get decent performance out of a cell camera that small and with that much resolution, you'd have to pay a huge price tag.
Given the quality (sic) of iSight, I'm not sure that Apple is going to make a camera phone that will satisfy you. Come back in 30 years and we'll see.

I hope people don't get their hopes up, then start posting negative threads all over the place when not all the rumors come true at WWDC.
Unlikely - New iPods, Mini and MacBook
Not sure - New iMac, MacBook Pro
Likely - ACD update or price slash.
Highly likely - New Power Mac called Mac Pro.

Saying happy employees are good employees is an idiom, like a penny saved is a penny earned.
Thank you for the English lesson. If I ever find myself in Arizona, I will be sure to enroll in your class.
It's even funnier since "a penny saved is a penny earned" isn't an idiom at all. An "idiom," in this sense, is a group of words that has a meaning as a whole other than the literal sense of the words. "Raining cats and dogs" is an idiom. "A penny saved is a penny earned" is a proverb, or possibly a cliche.

LOL:
"Kill the Competition"
"Monopoly"
etc.
Look Samsung shipped 2 million of their first tablets and they haven't all sold yet. If they had Sumsung would report that to you. The Xoom has only sold 100k in a period of time the ipad 2 has sold much more.
Lets look to see how things shake up when the competition sells out of their current inventories before cries of unfair competition get hurled about.
Motorola is not trying to buy the same quantities as Apple. That would be self destructive given the poor sales numbers. They buy what they hope they can sell.

Go to Intel's website. You will notice they only mention the Intel Core 2 Duo as a desktop processor not a mobile processor. Merom is not officially announced or it would be listed on their website.
http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20060727comp.htm
"Intel Corporation today unveiled 10 Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Extreme processors for consumer and business desktop and laptop PCs..."
The article later goes on to show the advantages of the Mobile PC Processor.
Merom is officially announced. They just don't say Merom.

I never would suggest that Apple is going to tank/go back to HP manufactured iPod Mini...lol
I just want other companies to succeed, if only to make my Apple products that much better. For instance, Id love to see the iP5 have a 4inch screen (im sure many disagree)...that could be a possibility because of some HTC success (Evo, Inspire...etc). BTW: Glad to hear youre a very contemplative buyer, it always pays off. Stay well friend, have a wonderful day.
With how much time Apple spent on the retina display, seeking an extremely high resolution it would almost seem counter intuitive to make the screen any bigger. I don't foresee that ever happening but hey you never know.

For the Holiday market they will want Merom in the high end (black) Macbook, if not all of them. That means Sept-Oct... Historically the iBook was updated in october... (see buyers guide...)
The difference between the MB & MBP is now the graphics card, screen size, expansion slot etc. With no 12" PB/MBP they can't afford to hold back the high end MB. If they are smart they will keep Yonah in the low end for a budget model, and Merom in the high end for pros who want a smaller & lighter laptop.
I'm guessing that's what the black MB is all about.
I'm also guessing there will not be a way to get the edu ipod deal with the new laptops, if apple's history is any indicator...
It is about time for the iMac and Mini's to update as well. It's a 64-bit marketing future for OSX and their sales of Leopard will suffer if the machines aren't out there to support this big new feature.
Come Nov. I'd say the Yonah will only be in the low end Mini and low end MB.

I said November for Merom MacBook Pros.
You said “September Maybe.”
Which leaves August unlikely, and December pushing it.
However I will stand by my original post, that if I was planning to upgrade to a MBP Merom, I would be prepared to wait until December. As most experts have predicted a switch before the new year.
Otherwise I think everyone understands both schools of thought here, which have already been suggested numerous times in previous post.
Although, I think Apple will hurt themselves more in the long run if they announce an update and can’t meet demand.I agree with you about November. But not for MBP - for Merom in MacBooks. I think since Merom is already shipping early it's a safe bet we'll see Merom MacBook Pros running @ 2.33GHz in September. November would have to be the drop dead date for Merom MacBooks still running @ 2GHz since above that speed they are way too expensive to go into MacBooks. This better not be the case. There is NO way I'm waiting untill then for a MacBook Pro. I don't think apple will wait that long, I think WWDC is likely, and if not I would say at Paris.Exactly. The Tuesday September 12 Paris Apple Expo Keynote is the latest MBP will be announced as "shipping today".

Come on Apple, that's just being cheap. Great, so let the user download the image and then what? Now they have to burn it to a DVD (probably a double-layer DVD too, which are a lot more expensive than a regular single-layer DVD). I love the App Store concept, but not for OS releases like this. And no way in hell am I using some "upgrade" option instead of a clean install.
Of course this is assuming it even does download it as an image file that could be burned to optical media. If not, then that would be even worse. I guess being able to run it off of a flash drive would be pretty awesome though, but somehow I don't see that happening either. In any case, I hope this doesn't catch on.

As much as I want to see Apple sell phones, I also like to see healthy competition to keep away anti-trust issues. Apple is for people who like quality high-end stuff and Android is for Kmart shoppers ;)
They said the same thing about DOS/Windows back in the day. Fast-forward to the 90s, and the Mac's market share was in low single-digits and most software was Windows-only.
Once again, Apple's stubborn insistance on not licensing out their OS will lead to the marginalization of their hardware. Once iOS hardware is marginalized, you'll see developers shift their focus away to the Android platform -- which will see better app releases and better integration between mobile and tablet OS.
The handwriting is on the wall for Apple. They lost the desktop battle because they were too focused on short-term profit (selling the computer + software) and now they've lost the mobile battle because they were, again, too focused on short-term profit (selling the phone + the OS).

I'd try to take the time to find it.
There are people who specialize in that.
Let them loose. See what they find.
We had a president a few years back who strode into the oval on the declaration that he was going to dive in and slice away at the massive gobs of waste, fraud and abuse that was plaguing the government! We all know what happened to him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter#Public_image).

Not really significantly faster than the G5 Quad. Maybe 50% faster at best. As owner of a Quad G5 my motivation would be more about the 6 bays and the FW 800 and extra USB 2 port on the front than the speed. :) Not worth the extra money to go 3GHz - 33% more money for 12% more speed doesn't make economic sense. Need 8 cores inside.
Agreed!
The next 2 releases of the MacPro are the ones I'll buy.
I am very happy I purchased my PowerMac Quad -- It has made me a lot of money in production multitasking. Fantastic Machine with NATIVE software that works NOW, with few minor bugs which I am sure will surface with the MacPros.

I don't know about completely free and with all the same features available now. Free would probably bog mobile me down to a joke status and even now I would hardly call mobile me performance stellar. Perhaps tiered pricing and plans would be more suitable.
However I believe Apple could and should lower the price. I have been using Mobile Me since itools and have been paying the $100 a year Apple tax for the past 5+ years. Well sort of... The first year year hooked me in at $49 and I got another couple years on discounted terms. The progression of itools>.mac>mobile me has seem many improvements and added features, but really come on!! $100 a year for services that you could get for free or half off is pretty steep, sure the integration and seamlessness is nice but its far from perfect.
I have actually been planing to cancel my mobile me plan for the last two years but both times auto renew and laziness sucked me back in. All I know is that this year will most likely be my last unless Apple dramatically improves performance, adds more features, or drops the price. After all itools used to be Free and was an added benefit of using a mac.

You (and others) are aware that "Developer Previews", when available, have always predated the Beta releases? It's not even a beta.
Apple says they will release Lion in summer, only Dev Previews have appeared so far, and suddenly people think it plausible for Apple to release a GM build in March?
And btw, I'm really disappointed in the reporting of the ludicrous "GM" rumour as it's pretty obviously wrong - usually MacRumors curates their news better than this.
Agreed :) 100% correct, these have been only two developer previews so a "straight to GM" claim is highly unlikely. I was/am amazed at how many sites are reporting a GM build is close/in the works as this has not been Apple's OS X development system of years prior (and should still be as developers/etc need beta's to flesh out their applications for porting and debugging to Apple engineers). Looking forward to the beta's, I'm guessing there is more to Lion than what we currently know from perusing some of the Lion Dev forums.
Apparently they claim to know than they do, which is typical. Your observations are spot on.
Is this directed towards me? If so, I'm very familiar with how things are done and I would like to believe I am fairly knowledgable in the systemic approach taken by Apple in 10.X releases :). My comment was regarding the veracity of the reports from MacRumors and many other Apple/tech oriented sites stating a GM build is around the corner while we haven't even reached beta builds (I've posted on this quite a bit in the Lion forum).

You can drop in Merom into the current socketed Yonah lines. That is what I was getting at. I know that the link (http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=14564&GroupID=1674) that was posted was to a Conroe chip though.
I was responding to a link to a Conroe chip. Hence why I said that there is no Mac that the *linked Conroe* chip can be put into *apart from maybe the Mac Pro* which has the right socket.
Again, you're just reading my post incorrectly.
